Editorial newsletter #1 - June 2023

In 2023, Solisluna celebrates 30 years of activities.

This is one of those moments when we reflect on the paths we have taken so far and those to come. We are aware that remaining in the Brazilian publishing market for three decades is challenging for any publisher, but especially for a publisher from the Northeast, Bahia, that values our culture, our knowledge and our people . This can only be cause for celebration!

It all started with a chance meeting and a love of books. In the early 1990s, I met Enéas Guerra , in a printing shop in Salvador, while we were printing our respective works. I remember that moment with great affection.

Enéas already had extensive experience in the publishing market, as he had participated in the creation of a publishing house in the 1980s, whose initial objective was to publish the important French ethnologist and photographer Pierre Verger , based in Bahia. Enéas worked with Verger for 10 years, taking care of the art editions of his books, as well as co-authoring two of them.

Specializing in graphic arts, with a lot of affinity for different printing techniques, I had already dedicated a few years to studying paper. There was a lot of synergy in our different specialties. And a common passion: graphic and editorial design . This is what motivated us to create together, in May 1993, SOLISLUNA Design e Editora.

Initially, the company provided services to public and private institutions, meeting market demands for matters related to visual and corporate identity and editorial design. We edited books about the histories of public and private institutions. For many years, this was our main focus.

In 2010, we achieved the dream that existed from the beginning: the creation of an editorial label for distribution in the national market, as well as a children's label, which has always been present in our dreams.

Since then, the publisher has been publishing important titles and authors, building a valuable catalog, and consolidating itself as a reference in the Brazilian publishing market.

There's a lot of story to tell!

With love always,
